Let's Gage It
Winter 2008
It's All a Matter of Timing.....
There are events in our lives when God's timing tests our faith, when we feel as though God is late in answering our prayers.  It is at such times that we remind ourselves of something Clarke has often said..."God is never late but seldom early".  God's timing is crucial!  The story of Phillip the Evangelist comes to mind.  He was in the midst of a great revival when God transported him into the desert to minister to the Ethiopian Eunuch.  Phillip baptized him after explaining the Scriptures.

Homeless Shelter in Russia Far East
It was the midnight hour for us . . . we were to leave for the Far East of Russia in just a few hours, and our visas had not yet come.  Just in the nick of time, we received a call that we could come and pick them up . . . about 6 hours before departure.  We spent two weeks in the Far East - very close to the China border.  We met with our Missions Team and with those from other missions teams and with national pastors, giving pastoral care.  We also ministered in the churches, homeless shelters, rehabilitation centers and orphanages.  On our trip back we stopped in Moscow and participated in the 15th anniversary celebration of ICA, the international church that we had pastored for 3 years.  What a highlight that was for us.

We were just ready to land in Tbilisi, Georgia for our Leadership Meetings with Country Coordinators and Area Directors when they announced that fog was heavy over the city and we would need to land in Baku, Azerbaijan instead, with the assurance that as soon as the fog lifted we would be flown back to Tbilisi.  What a nightmare!!!!  We were ushered into a confined area of the airport (since none of us had visas for Azerbaijan) and were left there for 12 hours without food, water, adequate seating or any communication.  The passengers were frustrated beyond measure.  We mingled among them, asking the Lord to use us to bring peace . . . peace for the situation, and also knowledge of the Prince of Peace.  Twelve hours later, as we flew into Tbilisi, we had several new friends, invitations to their homes and countries, and several who wish to come to our center, Shepherds Cove.  In retrospect, we realize it was
all a matter of His timing.
We came home briefly to the U.S. for Carolyn to have eye surgery.  Just days before we were to return overseas, Clarke met with a cardiologist because his heart had begun to race.   They are presently monitoring the medication to control that. We are thankful we were in the States when this happened.  What timing!  We expect to be returning soon to Estonia.

We want to thank you for your friendship, prayers and support!
